Ban Ka Santu 2019The Child Nutrition Team is looking forward to serving your children meals during the 2020-2021 school year.   We enjoyed serving the children meals over the summer months. Thank you to the families that joined us.

At this time, the USDA and the Food & Nutrition Service at MDE allows for free school meals to children 18 and under.

What Meal Service Will Look Like Through December 16, 2020

Will there be meals for pick up at school sites?

Yes, Bagged meals will be available on school days between 11:30 – 1:00 for pickup at the following school sites:

Condgdon Park Elementary, Homecroft Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, Laura MacArthur Elementary, Lester Park Elementary, Lowell Elementary, Myers-Wilkins Elementary, Piedmont Elementary, Stowe Elementary, Lincoln Park Middle, Denfeld High, Duluth East High.

Will there be bus hubs throughout the City of Duluth to pick up meals?

Yes, Yellow school bus hubs will run M-F  on school days.

Will the meals cost money?

No, The USDA and the Food & Nutrition Service at MDE announced that school meals are available to children 18 and under at no cost.

If my student is in Child Care at school what are the meal options?

Yes, A hot breakfast and hot lunch will be served to the students in Child Care.

If my student is in Child Care at school and brings a lunch from home, can they purchase milk?

Yes, milk is available for purchase.  A carton of milk is 50 cents.

If breakfast and lunch is free, why do I have to fill out a free or reduced application?

Even though meals are currently free we need families to fill out the Free & Reduced Price Lunch application by December 15!

Approved applications generate state funding that provides important services and programs for our Duluth students.

A decline in applications now can result in less programs and services for students in the next school year.

December 15 is the last day to have your application support this important school funding for next year.

To apply for free & reduced meals, click here to complete and submit an on-line  for Educational Benefits. On-line applications are safe, secure, private and available anytime.  Families can also download an application off the district website or call our Child Nutrition Office to have an application mailed to their home.

Safety Measures

Child Nutrition staff and other district staff will sanitize the cafeteria tables after each line.   Child Nutrition staff will continue to be diligent in  following the MN Dept of Health  and MDE sanitation guidelines.
